Moringa: The Miracle Tree Growing on Our Farm
If there is one tree on our farm that quietly deserves the title “superhero,” it is the moringa tree, also known as the drumstick tree. Moringa is one of the most nutrient-dense plants studied so far, with its leaves rich in vitamins A, B, C, E and K, along with minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. In traditional systems of medicine, almost every part of the tree — leaves, pods, flowers, seeds, even the roots — has been used for generations to support immunity, digestion, energy, and overall well-being.
The beauty of moringa is that nothing really goes to waste. We use the leaves fresh in sabzis, dal, chutneys, and smoothies, or dry them gently to make teas and powders that can be stirred into everyday meals. The long drumstick pods go into sambar and curries, bringing a gentle flavor and a good dose of vitamin C. Even the seeds have their uses — in traditional practices, they’ve been used for water purification and the extracted oil as a stable cooking and cosmetic oil.
For us, moringa is like a living multivitamin tree — nourishing our soil, our kitchen, and everyone who eats from our farm.
